Eastleigh and Southampton Football Trust – Independent Trustee Recruitment

This is a hugely exciting opportunity to be part of the Board of Eastleigh and Southampton Football Trust; a new charity which will be responsible for the strategic management of a brand-new grassroots football hub in Eastleigh.

The new facility is being developed through the Football Association, Sport England and Premier League’s revolutionary Parklife programme in partnership with the Football Foundation along with Eastleigh Borough Council and Southampton City Council.

The Parklife programme has the vision of creating multi-pitch artificial grass football hubs across England’s major towns and cities, where the need for good quality pitches is greatest, creating a passion and interest in football that lasts a lifetime.

Once built, the Eastleigh and Southampton Football Trust will be granted a long- term lease for the new facility known as Monksbrook which lies either side of Stoneham Road and will feature three new full-size artificial grass football pitches, three natural turf pitches and a pavilion building which includes a community café and eight team changing rooms.  The facility will be run on the Trust’s behalf by a leisure operator which is currently being procured, which will generate a long- term income stream back to the Trust. A second hub is planned to be developed in the Eastleigh and Southampton area, but will not form part of the Leisure operator procurement process. The Trust will develop strategies and make decisions on where best to re-invest monies to improve other grassroots football facilities in the area.

The Eastleigh and Southampton Football Trust is now looking to appoint a minimum of two (2) Independent Trustees to the Board on a voluntary basis. The Trust is seeking individuals with extensive experience and knowledge gained in the areas of strategic planning for sport and expertise in using sport as a tool for inclusion and delivering wider social outcomes. The Trust is also seeking for one of the independent Trustees to become the Trust’s Chair.

It is expected that Trustees will be required to commit a minimum of six days each year to the Charity, including Board meetings and the AGM. At the Trust’s discretion, a dedicated officer resource will be available from the Football Foundation to help support with administrative tasks.

The Eastleigh and Southampton Football Trust is a registered Charity & Company Ltd by Guarantee. The mission of the Football Trust is to use the power of sport, in particular football, to promote community participation in healthy recreation by providing facilities for playing football and other sports, capable of improving health.
