Whilst the majority of Saints Foundation’s Education scholars have finished for the academic year, one of its former students, Matt Hindle, is in the USA on a 3 month summer coaching assignment, taking in locations such as Los Angeles, San Francisco and Hawaii.

After joining Saints Foundation’s Futsal and Education programme, Matt was made captain – something he retained throughout the duration of his stay, not only improving him as a player but also as a person.

Matt graduated from the programme with a triple star distinction. This is just reward for his commitment and dedicated work ethic according to Mark Gamble, Saints Foundation’s Education Manager, “Matt showed exceptional drive and determination from day one with us to succeed within this industry, and he is certainly on track to achieve something special. Through the duration of the programme with us here, Matt grabbed all opportunities with both hands.”

Further opportunities for progression arose throughout Matt’s Scholarship, including casual coaching within Saints Foundation; something he has carried on pursuing over the last three years. This is something Mark Gamble believes stands Matt out adding “He is a huge credit to himself and his parents, and deserves all the accolades he receives.”

Since leaving the programme Matt has gone onto study BA Hons in Football Studies at Southampton Solent University in which he feels is going very well as he progresses into his final year.

Building on his captaincy during his Scholarship, Matt was also made captain of Saints Foundation’s National Futsal Club.

Matt commented, “Without the programme this feat would have never been achievable, let alone the opportunities offered whilst on the Scholarship, the least of which were Regional and U23 England trials for Futsal. I couldn’t recommend the Education programme highly enough for those aspiring to reach higher education or future employment in the football industry.”

National Futsal Team Manager, Keith Ellis, added to this idea noting “When we set up Saints Foundation Futsal Club, one of our key ambitions was to provide an opportunity for ex-scholars like Matt to turn the potential they showed on the Futsal and Education Scholarship into excellence in the form of competing in the FA National Futsal League. During his two-year period with the Club, Matt has established himself as Club Captain and was recently voted by his peers as ‘Clubman of the Year’. I believe this to be a result of the way in which Matt conducts himself and the standards he sets, making him the perfect role model for our aspiring scholars to follow in footsteps of.”
