National League Futsal Team

Saints Foundation Futsal Club was set up in 2015 to provide an elite pathway for the graduates of the Futsal & Education Programme. In order for the team to be classed as an elite club Saints Foundation Futsal Club applied to compete the FA National Futsal League. Upon successful application the team was entered in Division 2 South of the League for the 2015/16 season.

Futsal is an exciting court based version of Football. He sports also shares many of the characteristics of Basketball, Handball and Ice Hockey.  The sport is high scoring and games are fast paced and exciting in the way the momentum regularly switches between teams – resulting in high scoring games.

The team now competes in the FA National Futsal League (FANFL) Division 1 following the introduction of the FANFL Super League which runs from October to May. Saints Foundation Futsal Club (SFFC) were awarded this league status following a successful 2nd season in which the team finished 3rd in Division 2 (Midlands).

The club will now face opposition from clubs from Bristol, Eastbourne and 5 clubs in London as well as competing in the FA Futsal Cup – the sports flagship cup competition in England.

SFFC shares the core values of its parent club Southampton FC in developing potential into excellence by also implementing the operating procedures of the Southampton Way. The club do this through its elite pathway providing young local talent the opportunity to play futsal through the Saints Foundation Education programmes. The technical development of the players is underpinned with both academic and vocational qualifications providing a holistic approach to their individual development.

SFFC’s links within the community has produced a growing following of 100-150 fans attending home games at Applemore Health & Leisure Centre in Hythe, close to the Staplewood Training Ground, Marchwood. The team are supported by local cheerleading team Liberty pride who contributes to making it a great atmosphere and family friendly environment.
