Participants at one of our disability boxing sessions were treated to a surprise visit from Saints star Pierre-Emile Højbjerg recently.

The midfielder dropped in on the session at Poseidon Boxing Club and quickly got stuck into the action, joining in with a variety of different drills and exercises at the free, open access session.

The boxing session is just one of many Saints Foundation programmes that are funded by the Premier League and BT Disability Fund, helping us create more opportunities for those with both physical and cognitive needs across Hampshire.

Along with our open access sessions, we also offer opportunities to play regular football through our Hampshire Pan Disability Football League, which is the first official league of its kind in Hampshire, bringing over 250 people together once a month to play in a structured and competitive environment.

Should players wish to progress further, we provide an Advanced Coaching Centre for those with Cerebral Palsy, visual or hearing impairments, which can create opportunities for progression onto the National pathway.

Greg Baker, Head of Saints Foundation and Community Partnerships, said, “The funding that has come from BT and the Premier League has allowed us to develop a number of new programmes for young people and adults with both physical and cognitive impairments. The mantra of Saints Foundation is that we try to offer the same opportunities to those with disabilities as we do to everyone else, and this fund has helped us do just that”.
