Last weekend, six participants from our SaintsAbility programme were fortunate enough to attend the World Para Athletics Championships in London.

As part of the Para Athletics Championships #FillTheStadium initiative, alongside a host of other Premier League and EFL foundations, Saints Foundation were invited to the London Stadium to watch the action unfold on Day Two.

The participants from our Lordshill open access football session watched a variety of different events, including Stef Reid’s maiden gold medal in the long jump T44 and Hollie Arnold smashing the women’s javelin F46 world record to take victory in the field.

Ollie Morton, Saints Foundation’s PLWG & PL4S Project Officer, said, “It was a great day, giving current Saints Foundation participants the opportunity to see world class athletes taking part in the highest level of sport.”

The excursion was a brilliant opportunity for people of all abilities to become part of the World Championships, where athletes competing in the 400m, 200m, javelin, long jump and many more events demonstrated that having a disability doesn’t hinder their ability to perform at the highest level.
