Success for Saints Futsal South East Division 1 team!

Saints Foundation’s Futsal Scholarship Programme recently picked up its first ever elite trophy, with it’s first year team bringing home the title in the South East Division 1 league.

This accomplishment is a just reward for what the programme have been aiming towards since its inception in 2011, and marks the continual progression of what is swiftly being recognised as one of the countries best Futsal and Education Programmes.

The cap off the feat of picking up the programmes maiden elite trophy, the Scholars also remained unbeaten throughout the entire season, racking up 34 goals in the process and only conceding 10.

Coached by Andy Powell, who he himself is also enjoying a stellar 2017 after being named a Premier League Kicks Hero after coming through the Kicks programme to participate in the Futsal Scholarship, before moving on to become a full-time coach, the team is a prime example of the clear progression pathway that is on offer to Scholars within the Foundation, with five out of the seven players who won the title also regularly training with Foundation’s National League side.

Andy commented, “The team’s hard work and attitude in training has been unbelievable and they should be very proud of what they have achieved so far. I am glad that I could pass on my experience and coaching style and enable them to achieve success, and we’re all very excited to move onto the Nationals now, and we hope that we can bring some more silverware back to the Foundation to cap of an incredible season.

Following on from this success the team will now finish their season by playing in the National Finals in Birmingham on the 22nd June, where the top two teams from each region meet to compete for the title of National Champions.
